This fall, after our Sabbatical Summer, we’re jumping back into a robust set of classes! Learn more about each class offered and RSVP to reserve your spot.
Baptism Class (Children or Adults)
During this class, we will discuss the importance of baptism, the logistics of the baptismal day, talk about which Sunday works best, and answer any questions. Learn more about baptism at WPLC here.
The class will be held in person at the church. A hybrid option will be available if you prefer to be on Zoom.
- Sunday, September 11 from 1-2:30 p.m.
- Sunday, October 9 from 1-2:30 p.m.
- If neither date work, express interest below and Pastor Jason will reach out in the fall.
WPLC BASICS Class (New Member)
During this class, we begin with lunch and getting to meet a few leaders at WPLC. Then, we talk a bit about Lutheran theology (through WPLC’s lens), beliefs, history of the church, and the Bible. We wrap up with the specifics of the E.L.C.A. as a denomination along with talking about the history of WPLC, the future, and ways to engage here.
It’s an opportunity for you to meet other people and ask any questions you might have as well. After completing the class you are eligible to become a member of the congregation if you’d like – no pressure, and then when we welcome you as a member you get some gifts too – how fun! Even if you don’t want to become a member, it’s a great way to get more deeply connected with WPLC.
The class will be held in person at the church with a free lunch. A hybrid option will be available if you prefer to be on Zoom. In early fall, we’ll follow up to learn about dietary restrictions.
- Sunday, September 25 from 12:30-3 p.m.
- If this date does not work, express interest below and Pastor Jason will reach out when we schedule the next class.
Typically, children take their First Communion between first and sixth grade when their parents and pastor determine they’re ready. More information about first communion can be found here.
The class will be held in person at the church. A parent or guardian is encouraged to attend if possible. Unfortunately, this class will not be offered in a hybrid format.
- For ages 6-9: Sunday, September 18 from 1-3 p.m.
- If the date does not work or your child is outside of the 6-9 year old range, express interest below and Pastor Jason will reach out in the fall.
Confirmation is the culmination of a process by which individuals (usually in their early teenage years) come to learn more about the faith of the church and make public profession of their faith through the rite of “Affirmation of Baptism.”
The classes are held over four semesters and include a service project along with an inter-faith component. Classes will be held in person. You can learn more about Confirmation here.
