Lyle Harlow is Wicker Park Lutheran’s director of music and the arts. He came to Wicker Park Lutheran as its organist in September of 2001. Immediately upon his arrival, the organ ceased working because of water damage, so he played the piano for three years until the organ could be rebuilt. In 2005, Lyle assumed the responsibility of directing the choir. A life long Lutheran, Lyle learned to play the organ at his home church in Mt. Solon, Virginia, and served as its organist in high school. Lyle is a 1991 graduate in linguistics of William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia, and has an MBA from the University of New Mexico. Both as an undergraduate and a graduate student, Lyle studied organ. In 2005, he completed a two year leadership program for musicians serving small parishes and received the Bishops’ Certificate in Church Music. For several years, Lyle worked in Canada and the United States in sales and marketing for Lincoln Mercury. Both a neighbor and a member of Wicker Park Lutheran Church, he now is a real estate broker associated with the firm of Koenig and Strey in Lincoln Park.
