Anita Smith is Wicker Park Lutheran’s organist. A native of York, Pennsylvania, Anita began studying piano with her mother, a church organist and choir director. Before she left for Wheaton College, she had studied both violin and organ. At Wheaton, she continued her organ studies. Since her graduation from Wheaton, Anita has served as an organist at the LaSalle Street Church and the Lake View Presbyterian Church, both in Chicago, and most recently at Unity Temple in Oak Park. She has continued her organ studies and taken graduate music and hymn writing courses at Concordia University in River Forest. Anita has a Service Playing Certificate from the American Guild of Organists. Anita has been a full time employee at Lake View Academy since 1972. Lake View Academy is an alternative high school that is a program of the Lake View Presbyterian Church in Chicago. Anita is a counselor, teaches psychology, English, music, and other subjects, and serves as an assistant administrator. Anita joined the WPLC staff on October 1, 2006.
